Our Favorite Kid-Friendly Recipes

Cooking at home with kids can be tough, especially with picky eaters! It’s hard to find a good recipe your kids will ask for again and again, and even harder to find one that’s easy to make. That’s where we come in! We’ve pulled together a list of our favorite kid-friendly recipes — made using Dash products, of course — so you can save time in the kitchen and bring smiles to faces. The results are so delicious, you’ll even be able to recruit your older kids to help with the prep work!

Strawberry Waffles

These waffles are a perfect way to sneak a bit of fruit into your kids’ diet! Delicious fresh strawberries provide a burst of flavor to start the day right. Not to mention, they’re perfect in mini when using the Dash Mini Waffle Maker.

 

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tbsp sugar

2 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

1 egg

1 cup milk

2 tbsp melted butter or vegetable oil

½ cup diced strawberries

Directions

In a medium bowl whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another small bowl whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter or vegetable oil.

 

Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and whisk just until incorporated. Gently fold in strawberries.

 

Pour ¼ cup of mixture onto the Dash Mini Waffle Maker and cook until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

French fries are even better when they’re sweet! Try pairing these with your favorite savory condiments, or tossing them with a little bit of cinnamon sugar to satisfy a sweet tooth.

 

Ingredients

2 sweet potatoes, cut into ¼” rectangular strips

¼ tsp cornstarch

¼ tsp kosher salt

 

Directions

Place sweet potato strips into cold water. Let soak for 30 minutes. Pat dry with paper towels. Toss sweet potatoes with cornstarch until just lightly coated.

 

Place one single layer of fries into the Dash Air Fryer and fry at 350ºF for 10 minutes.

 

Remove from the Air Fryer and shake. Air fry again at 400ºF for 5 minutes. Toss immediately with salt and serve.

Air Fryer Burgers

You don’t need to go out to eat to have a delicious, juicy burger. Top these delicious patties with your kids’ favorites for a summer grill-out that’s stay-in!

 

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef, 90% lean

1 egg, beaten

¼ cup panko breadcrumbs

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

½ tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp ground black pepper

2 tsp kosher salt

½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

⅛ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

 

 

Directions

Combine all ingredients for the burgers in one large bowl and mix by hand until thoroughly combined.

Form into 4-5" patties and place, two patties at a time, into the Air Fryer.

 

Air fry at 375ºF for 10 minutes or until desired doneness. Serve with desired burger bun and accompaniments.

Air Fryer Burger

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef, 90% lean

Candied Brussel Sprouts

It can be difficult to get picky eaters to enjoy green veggies, but this recipe is certain to become a kid favorite! Adding delicious bacon and maple syrup makes these brussel sprouts even more flavorful.

 

Ingredients:

1 lb brussel sprouts

2 oz thick cut bacon, partially cooked

2 tbsp maple syrup

1 tsp sea salt

1 tbsp olive oil

 

Directions:

Slice brussel sprouts in half and discard any loose leaves. Cut bacon into ½ inch pieces.

 

Toss brussel sprouts and bacon in the maple syrup , olive oil, and sea salt. Air fry at 400°F for 8-10 minutes.

Potato Pancakes

Easy to make on a griddle or in a skillet, these potato pancakes are the ideal unprocessed substitution for kids who just want tater tots. Needless to say, we like these potato pancakes a latke!

 

Ingredients

2 medium potatoes, peeled

½ yellow onion

1 egg

2 tablespoons whole wheat flour

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

 

Directions

Shred the potatoes and onion. Mix the shredded potato and onion with all the remaining ingredients until well combined. Scoop out small patties and cook on the Dash Everyday Griddle. Serve with Greek yogurt and applesauce.

Air Fryer Mac N Cheese Balls

Why not indulge a little with these tasty afternoon snacks? Make them fresh or just use some leftover mac for a delicious air-fried treat.  

 

Ingredients

4 cups cooked elbow macaroni

1 tbsp butter

3 tsp all-purpose flour

11/3 cups heavy cream

2 cups sharp cheddar, shredded

2 cups Monterey jack, shredded

2 tsp sea or kosher salt

¼ tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp granulated garlic

¼ black pepper, ground

4 dashes hot sauce

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

3 large eggs, beaten

1 cups all-purpose flour

3 cups panko breadcrumbs

4 tbsp grape seed or vegetable oil

Directions

Add butter to a medium sized pot over medium heat. When melted, whisk in the flour. Whisk for one minute.

 

Pour in the heavy cream and whisk to mix. When cream is hot, whisk in 1 ½ cups of the cheddar and 1 ½ cups Monterey Jack in increments until the cheese is melted. Whisk in the salt, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, black pepper and hot sauce to combine.

 

Pour in the pasta and, with a rubber spatula, mix to combine. Remove from the heat and fold in the remaining shredded cheese and chopped parsley.

 

Transfer pasta mix onto a sheet tray lined with parchment paper and cool in the fridge for a half hour. Mix the panko with oil and coat the crumbs well with the oil.

 

Preheat Air Fryer to 360°F. Form roughly a 2-inch ball with a scoop or by hand. Dredge balls in flour and shake off excess. Dip the mac & cheese balls in beaten eggs and then in the panko.

 

Arrange 8 balls into the basket, 7 in a circle and one in the middle. Air fry for 12 minutes. Air fry in batches.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Your kids can enjoy the gooey goodness of chocolate chips without gluten using this easy recipe.

 

Ingredients

1 cup smooth almond butter

2/3 cup dark brown sugar

1 egg

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon almond extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup mini dark chocolate chips

Directions

Blend almond butter and dark brown sugar with a hand mixer. Add the egg, baking soda, almond, and vanilla extract and blend until smooth. Add mini chocolate chips and stir. Form into small teaspoon sized balls. Press cookie balls into discs and place in the Air Fryer. Air fry at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until just starting to turn golden brown on the edges.

Chocolate-Dipped Bananas

Make nutritious fruits into easy desserts! Simply cut some bananas and dip in melted chocolate for a frozen ice pop. They’re perfect for after dinner or while watching a movie with the family.

 

Ingredients:

3 bananas, sliced in half

½ cup dark chocolate melted with 1 teaspoon coconut oil

chopped nuts, coconut, chocolate chips (for decoration)

 

Directions

Dip banana half in chocolate, place an ice pop stick in the bottom and cover in toppings. Decorate with nuts, chocolate chips, and coconut. Freeze bananas for 2 hours.
