Pizza Griddle

I use this pizza maker a couple of times. The hardest part is figuring out how to flatten in shape the pizza dough. Clean up is super easy I just made sure to be careful and not submerged in water. The first time I used it I put one pizza on the pizza maker and one in the oven and the one in the pizza maker definitely cooked more thoroughly and quicker. I love making pizza whether it’s from scratch or from frozen. I tried out both on this griddle. The first thing that stood out to me is that there aren’t any instructions or tips on how to use it. There’s a manual that tells you how to turn it on and clean it but it’s very general. There are no guidelines provided on how long to heat up a frozen pizza or how long to bake a crust from scratch before adding toppings. I understand that times can vary but I would have liked an estimate! There’s also online access to recipes but I didn’t find them particularly helpful. I tried a frozen pizza the first time. I followed the oven bake time on the box and it took about five minutes longer to finish than the box suggested. The crust had a decent crisp and the pizza was hot but it didn’t seem any better than if I had used an oven. It just took longer. The next time I used it I made pizza from scratch. The dough took at least ten minutes to bake enough before I judged that it was ready for toppings. Again this was a lot of just going with my gut. It took another ten minutes at least for it to seem fully done. In my experience it has taken half the time in the oven. The crust was crisp once again but not different or better than if it were done in the oven. The device itself seems a little clunky and poorly designed. The top lid is loose but it seems intentional. Lastly I hate cleaning kitchen appliances and this was not an exception. I’ll probably try it again in the future as a griddle…

This Dash Pizza Griddle has a confusing name as normally pizzas are not made on a griddle but it works great. It doubles up as either a baking oven when closed or as a dual griddle when opened. It makes making pizza a breeze just make sure the dough you use for the pizza is a little smaller than the circumference of the griddle as it expands when baked. Cleaning it is not too hard but remember you can’t submerge it in water due to electric parts so just wipe it clean. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
