Retro Milkshake Maker

I was so excited to buy this retro milkshake blender for myself but I've been very disappointed with the performance. I've tried only a few times because I can't seem to get it to actually mix in the ice cream. If there's any firm-ness to the ice cream, the little blender arm just swirls it around in circles because it can't stick into the ice cream. So I wind up with a frothy mixture of milk and melted ice cream with large chunks of whatever semi-frozen ice cream is still not melted. It feels like this would only work with soft serve consistency ice cream but even then the lack of ability to move the cup around a bit means it would be unevenly mixed. My most recent attempt (which I'm eating right now), I tried adding chopped frozen strawberries and even after mixing I'm still finding bits where large groups of strawberries are frozen together, the blending stick didn't do anything to them. This is the only Dash tool I've tried that I've been disappointed by, but it's a very big let down.
