The Square Pocket Sandwich Maker is great. My daughter loves grilled cheeses. Pocket Sandwich maker was easy to use and easy to clean up. No mess. No worries about burning the bread as the Pocket Maker has a light to let you know when it is done.
This handy little sandwich maker makes the best grilled cheese, and also other kinds of sandwiches. You can fill it with whatever you prefer then latch the lid to keep it in while cooking. It cuts the sandwich almost in half and seals in the cheese while cooking and does so in only minutes. Some cheese oozes out but this appliances is very easy to clean. The sandwich comes out slightly crisp on the outside and the cheese is all perfectly melted inside. The only downside for me is that I wasn't able to find it in aqua to match all my other Dash appliances.
I love grilled cheese sandwiches, but I was not born with the ability to make them. I either completely burn the bread or don't cook it long enough for the cheese to melt. I finally caved and decided to buy a gadget that would make it for me. I LOVE Dash products and went directly to Google to find out if Dash made a sandwich maker. Lucky me! I ordered the one in aqua to match my Dash hand mixer. I do not regret it. It's cute and fun, and it makes perfect grilled cheese sandwiches. I literally pop it in for two minutes, and it's done. When I want a grilled cheese, I want a grilled cheese, so I appreciate that I get almost instant gratification when using this. I give it two thumbs up!
Fast and fun way to make a grilled cheese, tuna, chicken salad, egg salad (or whatever filling) sandwich!
This cooks a sandwich well. It heats evenly and is much less greasy than cooking up a grilled cheese in a pan full of butter.
There is however a definite technique. If you spray or grease the metal plates, it becomes a huge mess. You need to grease the bread. I just use spreadable butter or spray olive oil.
I very much wish the plates just came off. Because the plates don’t come off, cleaning is a huge pain. But also, I like Dash products; I like that they’re small. However, you get a tiny waffle iron, a tiny griddle, and a tiny sandwich press, and at that point you’ve spent as much and lost the same amount of storage space as you would if you just bought a full-size appliance with switchable plates. I’d easily pay like $50 for something the size of this sandwich press that had plates for griddle, grill, and waffle cooking. Probably more if it were adjustable temp. I like small space solutions. 3-4 appliances at $15-20 is just a novelty that eventually becomes inconvenient.
