Creamed spinach served in a white bowl — rich, velvety, and perfectly seasoned with garlic. A classic, comforting side dish that pairs beautifully with any meal.

Ingredients

  • 20 ounces frozen spinach (2 packages), thawed and drained

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, cubed

  • ½ small onion, chopped

  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon flour

  • Salt & fresh ground black pepper, to taste

  • A pinch of nutmeg, optional

  • Diced fresh tomatoes

Instructions

  1. To ensure the final product isn’t watery, use a kitchen towel or cheesecloth to squeeze out as much water as possible from the thawed, drained spinach.

  2. Set up the Slow Cooker. Add drained and dried spinach in the Slow Cooker. Add cubed cream cheese, onion, garlic, flour, salt, and pepper. And nutmeg, if using. Stir until well combined.

  3. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours. Halfway through the cooking, give a quick stir to promote even cooking and ensure proper consistency.

  4. Prior to serving, season to taste and top with fresh diced tomatoes.

  5. Serve as a side or with pita or tortilla chips and your favorite dippers!
