Ginger Pear Preserves

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 1¾ pounds ripe Bartlett pears (about 4 medium pears)

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ¼ cup powdered fruit pectin

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped candied ginger

  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Place the lemon juice in a medium bowl. Peel, core, and chop the pears into ½-inch pieces or smaller, tossing them in the lemon juice as you go to prevent browning.

  2. Put all ingredients into Bread Pan fitted with the Kneading Blade. Secure Bread Pan in Bread Maker and plug it in.

  3. Press the MENU button to select Jam, then press START/STOP to begin jam-making process.

  4. When cycle is complete, open the lid and let the Ginger Pear Preserves cool in the pan for 30 minutes.

  5. Spoon the preserves into clean, dry jars. Let cool completely at room temperature before covering. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

  6. Serve with biscuits, pancakes, or a soft cheese board—this one’s pear-fectly delicious!
