Instructions

Making the Waffles

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until just incorporated—do not overmix.

  4. Preheat the Dash Mini Waffle Maker and lightly brush the Cooking Surface with oil or melted butter if needed. Pour about 3½ tablespoons of batter into the Waffle Maker and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.

Making the Buttermilk Syrup

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, buttermilk, and butter over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil.

  2. Boil for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.

  3. Stir in the baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and slightly foamy.

  4. Pour this perfect homemade syrup over freshly made, crispy waffles and dig in!
