Instructions
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Whisk the egg, milk, and oil in a separate bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until just incorporated.
Grease the Mini Heart Waffle Maker with a light coating of cooking oil. Add 3–4 tablespoons of batter to the bottom Waffle Plate and cook until golden brown on both sides. Repeat with the remaining batter.
To prepare the apples and caramel, melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat and place the apple slices into the melted butter. Cook for roughly 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally, and then remove apples from the pan.
Once the apples are removed, add brown sugar to the pan and cook on medium heat for 4 minutes or until combined. Cook untouched for an additional 1 minute, allowing the mixture to boil. Remove from heat and add salt, vanilla, and heavy cream and stir vigorously until combined. Add the apples back in and cook again for 30 seconds or until apples are coated in sugar mixture.
Serve
Top waffles with the caramel apples and serve to the ones closest to your heart!
Chef's Tips
For extra flavor, use a mix of apple varieties like Honeycrisp and Granny Smith. Want crispier waffles? Let the batter rest for 5 minutes before cooking to help the waffles hold their shape and texture better.
