Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 1 egg

  • ¾ cup buttermilk

  • 1½ tablespoons sugar

  • 2-3 drops green food gel

  • ½ tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa together. Whisk to thoroughly combine.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, sugar, food gel, and vanilla. Make sure the food coloring is evenly distributed.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until just combined. The batter will be a little lumpy. Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes.

  4. Preheat the Mini Waffle Maker and grease with a light coating of cooking oil. Pour 3-4 tablespoons of batter into the Mini Waffle Maker and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.

  5. To serve, top with melted whipped cream, syrup, or powdered sugar. Don’t miss out on these or you’ll be green with envy!
